Welcome 5th Grade Students and Parents

Thank you for visiting our site!

You have entered Mrs. Allen's 5th Grade class website at Whitesville Road Elementary School. Fifth grade is such an exciting learning adventure. One of my favorite sayings is, "If you believe it, you can achieve it. I Believe in You!" This is why I became a teacher.

On this web site you will have access to a lot of important information such as Fifth Grade GPS Standards (academics you child is expected to know and be able to do when they leave fifth grade), weekly spelling lists, weekly homework assignments, and our class newsletter. Student work and photographs of many classroom activities will be found on the upcoming "Class Projects" link.

Be sure to check your son or daughter's progress on the **A/R Stars** link. You will be able to see what level they have reached so far this year. Please encourage them to keep on reading. Reading is the key to SUCCESS! Each student's goal this year is 300 points for each fifth grader. That's about 40 points each month. The students committed to this at our A/R Pep Rally with Mr. Parsons. I know if they really try, they can do this and will be rewarded for their hard work.

In the "Online Activities" folder are some fun sites listed by subjects to keep your skills sharp. You can surf the internet and explore, play, review, and even learn new things.

In my classroom, I am very particular about where the students are allowed to go on the computers. To view a copy of Troup County's Internet Acceptable Use Policy, click on the following links:

If you would like to send an e-mail to me, you may e-mail me at allenkl@troup.org. I hope to hear from you!

There's so much more! All of the links are listed in the navigation bar on the left or below. Most of the activities and information will change weekly, so keep checking for new things to see, do, and learn!

I think it is important that you understand my mission as a teacher, so I have provided my mission statement below.

Mission Statement

My mission is to empower my students to become responsible, productive, and successful citizens in our society through continuous learning opportunities, both in academics and life skills. High expectations will be set for all of my students, helping them to realize their highest potential by instilling positive beliefs in their abilities. My mission as a teacher is to always treat my students with respect and dignity, regardless of the choices they are making.

You'll be glad you took the time to check out our fun and fabulous web site. Thank you for visiting!

Check out how many times our website has been visited below! This is a great place to learn!
