AR - The goal for Kindergarten students is 10 points for the year. If your child achieves that goal they will be able to go on the AR field trip with Mrs. Jenkins at the end of April. The cut off date for taking AR tests will be announced soon, it will be sometime in mid April. Some children have already achieved this goal. To find out how many points your child has in AR, look in your child’s folder or go to the school web site and click on the AR page. There you can put in the ID number that was given to you at the beginning of the year to see the tests your child has taken and how many points he or she has accumulated. If you have lost your child’s ID number, send me a note and I will ask Mrs. Jenkins to print it out again.

In Reading/Language Arts this week we will learn the -ox and -ix families. There are only 3 words in each of these families: box, fox, ox, fix, mix, six. Our new "star words" this week are ‘up’, ‘down’, and ‘black’. The 35 sight words we have covered so far are, ‘purple’, ‘pink’, ‘what’, ‘green’, ‘see’ ‘is’, ‘look’, ‘yellow’,‘blue’, ‘you’, ‘in’, ‘red’, ‘where’, ‘for’, ‘me’, ‘it’, ‘here’, ‘this’, ‘come’, ‘yes’, ‘no’, ‘and’, ‘he’, ‘she’, ‘we’, ‘a’, ‘I’, ‘go’, ‘to’, ‘my’, ‘the’ , ‘like’, ‘an’, ‘do’ and ‘at’. This week’s homework is attached to this newsletter. In Math this week, we will continue learning about money and time and reviewing numbers 0-20. Because next week is a 3 day week, it will be a review week. There will be no new letters, word families, sight words, or homework.

I know I sent a short note last week but I would like to again welcome our new student Desiree. We are glad to have you in our class!

Here is a list of the children in our class to put on your child’s valentines. If you want to, you can just put "from (your child’s name)" on each Valentine instead of putting each child’s name on them.
