I want to take this opportunity to wish all my students and their parents a wonderful Thanksgiving. We just finished our Mexican Fiesta and with our first report cards under our belt, we eagerly await the coming of December with all the work (and fun) that brings. I met with many parents at our first of our Parent Conferences and they it was wonderful to be able to discuss so many postives. My "kids" are great this year and combine that fact with the new Promethean Board and a document camera, I am having one of the best years of my career. Thank you. In the next few weeks our learning plan looks like this: Math: In Math we will begin our work on multiplication.I am beginning to use multiplicaton facts during our Around the World time and it is paying off. For a while I will let them continue to use the tables in their agendas, but eventually they will have to know their facts. Some children have already begun to master a few of them. ELA: We will continue to read selections from our anthology. Our new trade book we read together at the end of the day is Double Fudge Some groups have finished a book on the Listen Lab and are beginning their second. We will continue to learn how to support a topic sentence with supporting details in Writing as well as perfect our Vocabulary Sentences we write each week.Writing pieces will continue to supplement our reading selections. We will continue to practice and perfect our cursive writing skills. Social Studies: Finish upour study of Mexico using our new Social Studies Text book. We will study the geography, history, economy, government, and culture of Canada next. Science: In Science we began a Unit on Rocks. We will learn to observe the different qualities of rocks and minerals, and how those qualities differ with the formation of the rock. We will do some hands-on labs and make our own fossils. That should prove to be both fun and messy!
