Expectations for Outdoor Recess

Outdoor recess expectations support safe, fun, social, and phycial activity which fosters a Christian Community based upon mutual respect.

Courtyard

• Clean classroom after lunch.
• Treat others with respect and follow directions of supervising adults.
• Dress appropriately for the weather.
• Shoelaces should be tied at all times.
• Only use school provided equipment and only for the purpose it was designed.
• Return equipment to designated storage at the end of recess.
• Once outside, remain outside and in assigned area.
• All physical contatct with others MUST be avoided.
• Approved activities: catch, 4 Square, 500, hacky sack, hop scotch, hula hoops, jump rope, ring toss, skip it, spud, walking, running, chalking, kickball (win-win kickball grades 1-4, details below)
• School established rules for games must be followed.
• Line up when bell rings and enter building quietly.
• Remain off of: brick walls, ramp into the Manse, and snow piles.
• Refrain from throwing snow.

Playground Area

• Go down slides one at a time, sitting in an upright position. Once on top of slide, slide down as soon as slide is clear and quickly move away from the bottom. Do not climb up or down the slide.
• Running and games are prohibited from playground equipment area.
• Handball and wall-ball are permitted on back wall.
• Basketball court approved activities: HORSE, shoot out, shooting baskets, 5 on 5 game.
