I.       Citing Online Databases (Ebsco; eLibrary; Gale; ABC-CLIO; CultureGrams)

A. Magazine and Newspaper Articles:

The basic elements:

·         “Author’s last name, Author’s first name. (if given)

·         “Title of the Article.” (in quotation marks)

·         Title of Magazine or Newspaper (italicized)

·         Day Month Year: Page(s).

·         Name of the Database. (italicized)

·         Publication Medium. (Web)

·         Date you accessed the article. (Day Month Year)

Example:

Powell, Bill. “Postcard: Beijing.” Time 25 Aug. 2008. eLibrary. Web. 27 Aug. 2008.

B. Journal Articles:

The basic elements:

·         Author’s last name, Author’s first name. (if given)

·         “Title of the Article.” (in quotation marks)

·         Title of the Journal (italicized)

·         Volume. Issue number, if given (Original Year of Publication): Page(s).

·         Name of the Database. (italicized)

·         Publication Medium. (Web)

·         Date you accessed the article. (Day Month Year)

Example:

Shoptaw, John. “Listening to Dickenson.” Representations 86 (2004): 20. Gale. Web. 27 Aug. 2008.

II.      Citing Websites:

The basic elements:

·         Name of the Site. (italicized)

·         Date Site was Posted/Revised. (Check copyright information.)

·         Name of Organization/Institution Affiliated with the Site.

·         Publication Medium. (Web)

·         Date you accessed the site. (Day Month Year)

            Example:

      The Elegant Universe. Jan. 2008. NOVA. Web. 27 Aug. 2008.
