Report Cards will be issued on February 6 (Friday) and I wanted to share some reminders about our form of "standards-based" reporting, since standards-based assessment often feels counter-intuitive to many of us...
In our system, the progress indicator numbers (1,2,3,4) represent a continuum of progress toward Sharon's challenging end-of-year expectations, rather than current performance. This means that students receiving 2 or 2+ at midyear are "on target" toward meeting end-of-year standards. Continuing their progress at this rate will lead to successfully receiving 2+ or 3 on their year-end reports. Indicator number 4 is reserved for achievement well beyond grade level.
Also, please note that on the specialist report page (Art, Music, Physical Education, etc.), the progress indicator numbers have different meanings than they do on the classroom report.
I am already looking forward to Spring Conferences- our fifth graders are truly awesome!
Love, Joanne
