General News
Please make sure you are seeing the papers coming home in the yellow folder.  Usually most of these papers can be kept at home, so please take them out of the folder each day. Any papers that need to be returned can be sent back in this folder! Thanks!

Please send a note or write a note in your child's assignment notebook if they are not going home their regular way.  This is school policy. Thanks!

Week of May 28th

   Language Arts

SSR-Students are to read at least 20 minutes a day. They should have a book to read with them at all times. All books from room 2 need to be returned.  Some are public library books and I need to get them back to the libray.  Students should have a book from home to read with them this last week!  To be a better reader one must read evey day... even if a book project is not due.

Guided Reading-Students will continue to work on SRA when they have free time during reading class.

We are finishing the novel, The Wish Giver.

Students are working on a short book to read in their group.  I meet with them several times as they work on reading skills.

Word Study -Students have a portable word wall on a yellow card in their black binder.  They are responsible for using and spelling these words correctly in all of their writing.  These words need to be used and spelled correctly in all written work.

Students are doing a great job diagramming sentences!  We have completed our work and taken a final test on diagramming.

Students have completed their graphic organizers for all parts of speech.  They are to keep them in their black binder to help them with diagramming and DLRs.

Writing-The students' books for their buddies look fantastic!  The stories and pictures are so cute!  They could go into business!

We will try to write one last poem this week using metaphors with a rather unusual object.

We will make covers for a booklet to put poem pages together with.

DLRs (Daily Language Review) will be assigned Monday through Thursday.  This paper allows students to practice capitalization and punctuation skills, parts of speech and parts of a sentence, word usage, spelling rules, analogies, and sentence combining. We will not have DLRs this week.

Religion

We will do some activities centered around Mary and the rosary.
