Classroom Updates

1. Week Four Already?!?!?

Can you believe today is the first day of week four? Wow! Time sure does fly! We've figured out our schedules, learned lots of routines and procedures, gotten to know our new science textbooks (including the online edition), practiced some reading and study strategies, and even started to explore some of the characteristics of scientific inquiry! Today we finished the Science Baseline Benchmark Test and began reviewing the SI system of measurements and scientific tools. To top off the new week, my Monday ended with little gift from the atmosphere: a hail storm complete with dime-sized (and larger) chunks of hail, which--of course--I ran out in the downpour to collect and share with you tomorrow in class! Check out this link from NOAA to learn more about hail!

Just FYI, I am updating the Vade Mecum webpage and the Science Fair page just as quickly as I possibly can. Let me know if there's something you need that's not there!

2. First Day of Pre-Planning

Today is my first day back at GMS, and I'm so excited to get the new school year started. This morning I attended the Welcome Back presentation at the VBHS PAC sponsored by the Ed Foundation from 7:45-11 am. The keynote speaker was Dr. Harry Wong. I spent my lunch time getting my computer connected and back online and going through some of the emails and voicemails I accumulated over the summer. This afternoon I hope to get started on updating the website with important first week info. Tomorrow morning I have a 3 hour training session on our new textbook series at SGMS.
