The difference between the ordinary and the extraordinary is the little extra.

Quote of the Month:

Never neglect the little things.

Never skimp on that extra effort, that additional few minutes, that soft word of praise or thanks, that delivery of the very best that you can do.

It does not matter what others think. It is of prime importance, however, what YOU think about YOU!

You can’t do your best (which should always be your trademark) if you are cutting corners and shirking responsibilities.

YOU ARE SPECIAL!    Act it!

Never neglect the little things.

- Og Mandino

SCIENCE FAIR: Science Fair project folders will be placed in student mailboxes in the classroom on Tuesday, Oct 27, for all projects that have been approved. If the Checklist for the Adult Sponsor is signed, you may begin experimentation. If your folder is not in your student mailbox on Tuesday, or if your Checklist for Adult Sponsor is not signed, please see Mrs. Flynt to determine what esle needs to be completed to get project approved. Please look over your research plan for suggested revisions that will need to be incorporated into your final project report. Some students may want to make revisions in order to improve their grade on thier Research Plan.

AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM: Please remember that Mrs. Flynt is available Tuesdays and Thursdays after school, especially if you have been absent for two or more days, or if you are struggling with a topic, project, or assignment.  Tuesdays are drop-in days -- all you have to do is show up! If you need/want to come on Thursdays, please sign up on the courtyard exit door.

NoodleBib: NoodleBib is a fantastic tool for citing sources (website, books, magazine articles) when you are conducting research. To create a new account, go to the NoodleTools Login Page and type the following info:

  • School/Library Username: Gifford
  • School/Library Password: dolphins

VADE MECUM: Don't forget about the important documents in your Vade Mecum (pronounced VAH-day MEE-kom), your class handbook. If you want to improve your mid-term grade in science, review your Vade Mecum and make sure you understand the expectations for our class. Remember that I want the best FOR you and FROM you!

CALENDAR: Add your event or birthday to our class website calendar. Click "Post Event" in the upper right hand corner. I encourage students and parents to also add any events, important school dates, or major holidays that might interest others or impact homework time.

H1N1 VIRUS: During the first week of school, all schools in the district distributed an informational letter regarding the H1N1 influenza virus and the district's efforts to protect students and staff. I have attached this letter at the bottom of this page. In addition to the district's safeguards, I continue to provide approved hand sanitizer and tissues on every table in our classroom. We also use Lysol wipes regularly to wipe down common contact surfaces. A TREMENDOUS THANKS to all of the families that have supported a healthy classroom by donating these items!
