Subject:                                     Teacher's workshop

Hi Everyone,

Just a quick update about the IRL Envirothon and the teachers’ workshop:

First, we have decided on a venue for this year’s competition. It will be held at F. Burton Smith Regional Park in Cocoa, a 1300-acre park located on SR 520, about 3 miles west of I-95. The website ( www.irlenvirothon.com ) has been updated with this information and a link to more info about the park.

Next, our teacher’s workshop, currently scheduled for October 27th, has been CANCELLED. We are looking at options for either conducting a webinar, which will allow for more folks to attend; or, doing workshops in each of our counties. More information on that very soon as we nail down these details.

Participation and registration forms will be available on the website beginning next week. One major change is that we are forced to ask for a $10 registration fee from each team member ($50 per team). In this time of funding sources drying up, we will have to rely on these funds to help cover some gaps in the estimated $9,000 cost of running the event.

Finally, this year’s current issue is Nonpoint Source Pollution/Low Impact Development. The website will be updated with a number of resources in the next week, and here is a link to the topic on the Canon Envirothon website:  www.envirothon.org/current-competition/231.html

Please contact me should you have any questions about this information, and look for additional info coming soon. Thanks for your patience during this transition period!

Kathy
