Questions and Answers

1)  Q We are going on a family vacation when school is in session. What does my child need to do? A Little Falls Middle school has a Pre-Arranged Absence Form in the guidance office. Several days before your trip have your child pick up the form. Several signatures, including yours and that of the school nurse, are required. Also the form will have space for teachers to provide assignments. Vacations are considered an UNEXCUSED ABSENCE.

2)  Q My child wants to change his schedule. What do we do? A Changing schedules is not encouraged. However, if there is a valid reason for a schedule change, the student should see Mrs. Mocko for a schedule change request form. Parents, teachers, and the principal need to sign the form. Sometimes teachers will request that a student's schedule be changed in order to facilitate your child's learning. You will be notified of such changes.

3)  Q My place of business gets involved with "Take Your Child to Work" day in April. Can my child participate? A We would encourage your child to visit you at work during a school vacation. However, if your employer only allows such visits on the official day, your child needs to complete a Pre-Arranged Absence form and complete a career worksheet.

4)  Q We are moving. Who should I contact with our new address and/or phone number? A Please call the Middle School office, the nurse or the guidance office if you have an address change or change in phone numbers. We feel that it is very important to stay in contact with you.

5)  Q Does Little Falls Middle School give final exams? A Students at Little Falls Middle School do take final exams during the last two days of the school year. Finals are averaged in with the 4th quarter grades. A schedule of these exams is sent home with the April interims reports. NEW YORK STATE REQUIRES ALL SIXTH, SEVENTH AND EIGHTH GRADE STUDENTS TO TAKE STATE EXAMS IN ELA AND MATH BEGINNING IN 2006. English Language Arts exams will be held January 17 - 20 and Math from March 13 - 17. We will pick specific dates and advise students and parents soon.

6)  Q We are moving out of the distict. How do I sign my child out of the district? A It is best to contact the secretaries in the guidance office to sign out your child. They have forms for you to sign and will give you a copy of the student's schedule and recent grades that you can share with the new school when you register. When you register in the new school, bring the child's birth certificate, proof of residency and the packet from the guidance office     7.)  Q My child wants to play a school sport, where can I get my child a physical and/or the forms that my child physician needs to complete?      A The Nurse’s website, which is linked below, has all the information you need.  The site provides upcoming physical dates, as well as physical and medical interval forms.  If you or someone you know does not have access to the internet stop by the nurse’s office or the main office to pick-up a copy.  http://www.lfcsd.org/education/components/docmgr/default.php?sectiondetailid=8767&
