Summer Programs

Many colleges have summer programs where you can explore certain fields and maybe even earn college credit as a High School Student.  There are also many that provide great camps for late elementary and middle school students.  Take a look at the links below to explore architecture, robotics, creative writing, firefighting, crime scene investigation, etc. at Syracuse University, Union College, Cornell University, Renssellaer, Morrisville and many more.  There are also many benefits to joining summer reading programs through local libraries.  At this time we don't have an official program in the LFCSD Middle School, but it is something to consider for your child. 

• SUNYIT (Utica) - Math and Engineering (LEGO) Summer Programs
  
  
• Mohawk Valley Community College's Kids and Teens Summer Career Camps
  
  
• MASH Camps (LF or St. E's Hospitals)
• day camp that provides an introduction to health professions for incoming 8th and 9th graders
  
  
• MedQuest/HealthQuest Camps (Syracuse Upstate Med or Ithaca College) 
• week long residential camps on various health professions for incoming 10th, 11th and 12th graders.
  
  
• College For Every Student 
• College Explore, a three day weekend residential campus experience for CFES Scholars, provides advice and guidance on beginning the college process. Participants live int he campus residence halls, attend classes taught by college professors, participate in workshops on admissions and financial aid, learn college interview and essay writing techniques, and gain leadership and teamwork experience. All students who attend the program will be expected to complete a post-graduation activity - for example, sharing what they learn with their CFES Scholar peers upon returning to school in September.
• Eligibility: CFES Scholars who are rising Juniors and Seniors can complete an application to participate in one of two College Explore Programs being offereing this summer:
• Deadlines: TBA - Typically April with applications going thru the guidance office.
