Math My name is Julie Berry, and I teach 6th grade math for the 6 East Stars Team. Teaching is my passion, and I can’t wait to get started with a new group of students! I am a native born Texan and graduated college in 1991 with a B.S. in Education & a mathematics specialization. I have been married for 20 years, and I have two daughters ages 9 and 14. I LOVE teaching math, and my goal is to make this a successful year for each student. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. Listed below will be the general objectives covered each nine weeks and my grading policy. First Nine Weeks- addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole number/decimals, place value, rounding Second Nine Weeks- number theory, prime/composite numbers, GCF & LCM, divisibility, addition & subtraction of fractions Third Nine Weeks- multiplication & division of fractions, graphs and tables, mean/median/mode/range, basic algebra, angle concepts, plotting points Fourth Nine Weeks- Circle concepts, addition /subtraction /multiplication / division of integers Daily work/Homework will be counted one time in the grade book. Quizzes will be counted twice and tests will be counted three times. Also, we will take multiplication fact quizzes weekly to help master those. Continue to work with your child at home using flash cards, computer games/sites to work on mastering those multiplication facts!! Learning those will make the fractions unit much easier.
