Kindergarten Homework

The children take home a Homework Envelope each Monday.

We include a weekly newsletter, their assignments, and any papers from the office.

The homework and the envelope are due back by Friday.

The students do six things at home each week:

·        Read their Word or Phonics Library Book

·        Read a poem they have learned in class

·        Practice reading and writing the vocabulary word for the week

·        Complete their Home Math sheets

·        Practice writing letters on lined paper

·        Take home a book from our classroom library and do a book report

The students can check-out a book from our classroom library each day. They are required to do at least one book report a week. The students read the book with their parent. Their writing should reflect their writing stage:

Level 1 – Scribble Writing

Level 2 – Random Letters

Level 3 – Copying Words

Level 4 – Writing the beginning and ending sounds of words

Level 5 – Writing the beginning, middle, and ending sounds of words

Level 6 – Spelling all high frequency words correctly
