The Selection Award Process of the Island Trees Scholarship Fund A committee of Island Trees School District community volunteers choose scholarship recipients. The Scholarships are awarded to applicants on the basis of scholastic achievement, attitude, goals, school and community involvement, and financial need. How monies are raised by the Island Trees Scholarship Fund District-wide Mailing Each year the Island Trees Dollars for Scholars Organization, in cooperation with the Island Trees School District, contact residents through a district-wide mailing in late winter (February/March) to request donations. The "WALK" Every April, Island Trees High School student volunteers gather for a hearty breakfast prepared and served by resident volunteers, school administrators and faculty. After breakfast, group canvas homes within the Island Trees School District, who have not responded to the district mailing.
