Dear Parents,

Welcome back!  We hope you all had a restful and enjoyable summer.  A special welcome to the parents of the fifth graders new to PTSA.  The Island Trees PTSA will be here to support you and your children from 5^th through 12^th grade.   As always, our goal is to make our school years memorable for both our children and ourselves.  Our names are Ellissa Fazio and Maureen Kutzma, we are your PTSA Co-Presidents this year. The PTSA Executive Committee is rounded out by Joni Reilly as MMS Vice President, Monica Wroblewski as HS Vice President, Cathy Manganiello as Treasurer, Suzanne Friedenreich as Recording Secretary, Lori Seibner as Corresponding Secretary, Pam Mattia as Historian, and Bobbi Riley as Chaplain.

We will be kicking off the year with our PTSA Membership Drive in both MMS and HS.  The PTSA stands for Parent, Teacher, Student Association. The PTSA fundraises for events that take place in the MMS as well as the HS.  Through these events we are able to provide our children with events like the 5^th grade Orientation and High School Post Prom Breakfast.  In order to raise these funds we need your help by volunteering your time, talents and support.

We have planned some exciting things for the up coming school year.  All PTSA flyers will be going home with 5^th and 6^th grade students through their Homebase classes. Seventh and eighth grade students will be handed flyers in one of their main subject classrooms.  We will also be using our “Parent Info e-mail”, where those parents who have provided their email addresses will receive PTSA information about up-coming events. Additionally, all flyers are available on the PTSA link on the Island Trees School District website.

Our clothing drive will be offering new items, and this year we are very excited about our 3^rd Annual Chinese Auction, which will be held on October 23^th in the MMS GPR.  Here, you will have an opportunity to support your PTSA while enjoying a night out with friends.

We all know that children learn more and succeed when parents, school staff and the community work together. Please join us, make new friends and share your ideas, at our first PTSA meeting on Monday, September 21, 2009 @ 7:00pm in the MMS Library.  We look forward to meeting you.
