2011-2012 SIXTH GRADE BAND INFORMATION
In years past, band recruiting has been completed during the spring semester while the students were still in fifth grade. Due to situations caused by construction at Hillsboro Intermediate, Mr. Blair and Mr. Dedert along with Mr. Readnour have decided to move band recruitment for sixth grade band to the Fall 2011 semester.
The following is a schedule of how the new recruitment process will be structured:
May 24, 2011 – Recruiting concert & introductory meeting for 5th grade students only (6th Grade Band and Junior High Jazz Ensemble will perform)
August 22-25, 2011 – Instrument demonstration/testing (during 6th grade study hall)
August 29, 2011 – Regularly scheduled band classes begin w/ music review
September 8, 2011 – Band instrument display/rental night & mandatory parent meeting. (In North Gym)
September 12, 2011 – Students begin classes with instruments
This is a preliminary schedule of the recruitment process and is intended to give our band parents a ballpark idea of what to expect. Some dates may be subject to change. Much more detailed information will be sent home as we near the end of this school year and continue toward the beginning of next year. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact Mr. Blair or Mr. Dedert in the junior high band office. We look forward to having your student as a member of Hillsboro Band Program!
