6th Grade News Nov. 9-13 The end of the first quarter is here. We are very proud of the effort the 6th graders have made in their learning. Thank you so much for doing such a wonderful job of supporting your child. You are the most important teacher in your child's life and you all do an amazing job! This week we will be heading to Willow Creek for their Veteran's Day celebration. The program is outstanding and we are so lucky they invite us each year! Language Arts: The Circuit and Hard as Nails will be our reading selections next. We will take a test on these stories on Wednesday, November 11th. We will begin Literature Circles on Thursday, Nov. 12th. The students are really excited to choose their own reading material! Math: Unit 3 this week will focus on variables and formulas in spreadsheets. We will also play Spreadsheet Scramble. Religion: People of the Old Testament will be our next topic. We will be studying Abraham this week, researching our own names, and creating name art. Social: A world geography DOG will come home on Monday and be due on Thursday. These really help us identify geographically with our world. Science: Our insulated container lab was a huge hit last Friday. The kids were really creative in their designs. We will be testing on this unit on Thursday, November 12th. We will conduct a sugar cube experiment on Friday. Spelling: We will be working on unit 8 this week. We will be talking about the ge/dge spelling rules. Please make sure your child is studying their missed words. These are located on the right side of their planners. There is a test on the words they missed on Friday, along with their regular test. Reminders: -
