A special place to learn, pray, and play!
Welcome to Fabulous First Grade! This is a very big year for us as we become independent readers and writers! Our learning focuses on Readers'/Writers' Workshops where we learn different tools of becoming great readers and writers. We center our instruction around the Daily 5 and CAFE. The Daily 5 consists of stations of Read To Self, Read To Someone, Work Work, Listen to Reading, and Work On Writing. Our CAFE Menu holds our strategies of learning related to Comprehension, Accuracy, Fluency, and Expanding vocabulary. We also study various units throughout the year such as Rainforest and Penguins and Bears - OH MY! We also spend time learning what it mean to be a Bucket Filler, to fill someone's invisible bucket each day with kind words and actions for them.
