Team Rules
HOLY TRINITY FRESHMAN BASKETBALL TEAM 2009-2010 Team Rules Practices All players should be properly dressed and in the gym at the scheduled time for practice. The locker room will always be open at least 15 minutes before practice begins. If someone has to miss practice or be late they must let the coach know ahead of time. If a student is with a teacher they must bring a note from the teacher. If a player has a detention they must serve it, but this is not an acceptable excuse for being late or missing practice. Missed practices or lateness will lead to individual consequences. According to the policy of the Holy Trinity Athletic Department, any player who has 3 unexcused practice misses will be dropped from the team. Respect All players must respect the coaches, athletic staff, other players, ect.. Every player represents his team and the entire school whether they are sitting in the stands during another game, riding on a bus to an away game or practice or when wearing the Holy Trinity uniform during a game. Disrespectful acts like cursing, put downs, fighting, ect.. could lead to consequences established by the coach or school. Academic Eligibility All players who are failing a class on the weekly grade checks will not be allowed to practice, play, sit on the bench or travel with the team for the one week ineligibility period. If that player is passing all their classes on the next report then they can rejoin the team. This period is Wednesday through Tuesday. The only persons who can approve the correction of any mistakes on grade reports are the principal and athletic director. If a player remains ineligible for 3 consecutive weeks, he will be removed from the team. A student who fails a class at the end of a stage will not be allowed to play on the team during the entire next stage. At the end of the next stage, if that individual passes all classes, the principal will verify that the player can join the team. Study Hall On days where practice begins late, there is a mandatory study hall for the entire team. Players are required to be at the study hall room at the time set by the coach. Players can get help from teachers or tutoring programs during study hall. They must let the coach know where they are at and who they are with. Then they must bring a note with them that includes the time they finished and the signature of the person in charge. If a player does not participate in the study hall or tutoring they will not be allowed to practice. Bus Riding All team members will ride the school mini buses to away games, practice and team events. No visitors will be allowed to ride the bus with the team. Everyone is expected to ride the bus back to school with the team after these events. The only exceptions will be if parents or guardians come to the coach and say they will take their son home. Holy Trinity does not allow “drop offs” on the way home from games or practices. All team members must make sure that the bus is clean when it returns to Holy Trinity. Players must pick up all trash. Players must remain seated while traveling and give a good impression of Holy Trinity High School to anyone we encounter on these trips. Violations of this rule could result in suspension from the team.
