Lots of Exciting things this month -
Sally Foster Fundraiser finishes up. We will accept them until October 17th! We use the money from Sally Foster to fund cultural Arts programs, field trips, teacher requests and some of our events. Thank you for your support!
Haunted Doorways - A terrific way to Trick or Treat with your children. The children Trick or Treat at Doorways in Federal furnace manned by other FF parents. Once your done Trick or Treating, come have your picture taken and have some dinner. Try some of our Chili! We have a terrific Surprise Judge coming!
We are still accepting Membership and Volunteer Forms. If you'd prefer, you can volunteer through our on--line form.
New Additions to the Volunteer Form - Treasurer Trainee. Our current Treasurer is retiring after this school year and would love to train someone this year for next year. If you are interested please email Bonnie at FFHSA01@yahoo.com
As our Open Houses finish up, a number of parents came to me wondering what type of commitment is it to volunteer and if we don't know our schedule can we commit later.
What type of commitment is required.
First off each of our committees need volunteers. The time requirement is what you need it to be. Most of our events need volunteers to fill 2 - 2 1/2 hour slots. If you can only give us an hour of your time, we will find you something to do. So if you volunteer for bookfair you may volunteer from 9-11:30 or 9:30 - 10:30 or 1 - 2:30 or any combination of those depending on the day. At Haunted Doorways, you would volunteer for a Haunting and then you can attend the other Haunting. With some events, you may only volunteer for set up or clean up. Each event is different, but each is set up so that you can spend time with your children and you are not spending your whole day at the school.
Can you tell us later? Yes
Each chairperson is given a list of people who have signed up to help for their event. Those of you who signed up early will get a call or email from the chairperson approx 1-3 weeks before the event. Each chairperson does it differently.
You can definitely call later and say "Oh my schedule has cleared and I'd love to help". It's rare that we wouldn't have an opportunity for you to fill.
The reason we ask in September is that some events will have to be scaled back if we don't have enough volunteers. Last year we had wanted to do a variation on the apple dunk but we didn't have enough volunteers to support it. So as soon as you let us know the better we can plan.

This year our chair people are going to update their sections of the website to give you more current information of their activities.
