School Wide Performances

Arithmetickles  www.arithmetickles.com  "Arithmetickles" is a totally unique, interactive math show that takes math out of the textbooks by demonstrating to students in grades K-8 that math is a part of their everyday lives EVERY DAY!  "Arithmetickles" uses the art of theatre to encourage a love of math and to help allay fears associated with learning math and numbers by involving the entire audience in highly creative and funny age-related math theatre games.

Arithmetickles will be performing two shows in the gym: one show for K-2 and one show for 3-5.

Deraldo Ferreira and the Afro Brazilian Ensemble (www.yamass.org)

Capoeira: Afro Brazilan Martial Arts, Music and Dance

This lively show highlights three principal elements of Brazilian culture:  music, martial arts and dance.  The rhythms played throughout the show are steeped in the traditions of the past, brought into the present through soulful interpretation.  The performers, drawing upon a lifetime of experience and practice, vibrantly demonstrate forms of capoeira, maculele, samba and their origins.  Their movements are smooth, seemingly effortless and highly acrobatic.  The performance weaves all these elements together with a sense of humor and play, making the show accessible and fun.

Mr. Ferreira will be performing two shows in the gym.
