Dear Parents,

Welcome to second grade!  I hope everyone had a wonderful summer vacation and took advantage of all the great weather.  It seemed to fly by, and we are now ready to begin another brand new school year, I am eager to start since we have full second grade curriculum, and lots to accomplish.

These first few weeks will likely be an adjustment period for your child, as we get acquainted and establish our rules and expectations.  Throughout the year, I will be stressing the importance of individual responsibility in the areas of homework, organizational skills, and behavior.  I will discuss this more in detail at our upcoming Open House.

Please note the following special classes for your child this year:

Day 1- Art and Library

Day 2- Physical Education and Spanish ***

Day 3- Music and Art

Day 4- Technology and Spanish

Day 5- Physical Education and Music ***

Day 6- Technology and Library

*** Please Note: Days 2 and 5 are our Physical Education days and your child needs to be dressed in his/her gym uniform.  If necessary, please consult the Student Handbook for clarification.  Also, please remember to label all of your child’s belongings (sweaters, hats, sweatshirts, jackets, lunchboxes, folder, ect.).

We will have snack daily.  Please send in ONE healthy snack that is nut free each day.  I will also allow the children to have a SMALL water bottle on their desks throughout the day.  You can feel free to send in a personal water bottle or bottled water, please include their names on these.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns that may arise during the year.  I count on and truly appreciate the support I receive from you, the parents.  It’s important we function as a team to ensure your child receives the best education possible.  I look forward to a wonderful, successful, and enriching year in 2-3.
