Welcome to the Pumpkin Seed Counting Project 2008
hosted by
Jennifer Wagner at Jenuintech.com Projects.com!!

This project is a
3 day project (October 29 - 31, 2008) that PreK - 3rd students WORLDWIDE participated in.
The main objective of this project was to
reinforce math skills involving estimating, counting, and organizing data.  We selected a pumpkin that weighed 4-1/5 lbs.  We estimated that the pumpkin would have approximately 250 seeds in it.  We cut open the pumpkin and scooped out all the seeds and icky stuff.  We then counted the seeds by placing them in groups of 10.  Our final count was 510 seeds!

We read
"The Biggest Pumpkin Ever" by Steven Kroll
and
How Many Seeds in a Pumpkin by Margaret McNamara

We also made words out of "pumpkin".
