All About Mrs. Taylor, Your Teacher I love traveling the nation in our RV and visiting interesting places. I love exploring and learning about each new place we visit. I also love hiking and fishing. There are so many beautiful places to explore in this glorious land of ours. I have lived in New Mexico, Colorado, California, Guam, and Idaho. I have served in the military as a member of the United States Air Force and the California Air National Guard as a Ground Radio Operator in a Combat Communications Group and operated a successful home business as a Medical Transcriptionist before becoming a teacher. During this time, I was a Girl Scout Leader for almost 10 years! Of all the jobs I have held, teaching has always been my passion and I absolutely LOVE my job. I am passionate about my students and their families and I believe that we need to work together to prepare kids for a successful future both at school and home. Outside of school, I am very involved in my own family. My husband Bruce works as an Electrical Supervisor for the City of Riverside. He works on the city's electrical distribution system. My daughter, Melissa (17), is a senior in high school this year. She plays the piano, works at Aeropostale at the mall, and is a cheerleader. My son, Nicholas, is a junior in high school this year. He plays the piano and guitar and swims on the High School Swim Team. In my spare time, I LOVE quilting/sewing, scrapbooking, stamping, gardening, reading, and fishing. I also like to spend time with my family and friends. I like riding on the back of my husband's Harley. I also take pictures everywhere I go. I have two yellow labs who are the funniest creatures. I love taking them hiking and watching them play. I also volunteer and serve on two clubs. I am involved in the Canyon Springs High School Pep Squad Booster Club and usually attend functions with the girls as a teacher chaperone. I am also an active member on our church motorcycle ministry - Soul Survivors. We put on a Bike Night Event at Sunnymead Burgers on the first Friday of each month. At school, I work with a group of teachers to plan and carry out the many Family Nights we offer to parents and their children. My favorite ones are the Family Astronomy Night (space and earth science are my passions), and Family Math Night. I also run the "Trout in the Classroom" program here at our school with the help of the Department of Fish and Game and Deep Creek Flyfisher Club, as well as much help from our 2nd grade teachers, Mrs. McConnell and Mrs. Gilbert-Williams. I am very honored to be your child's second grade teacher this year. I am passionate about the students and my job as a teacher. I am committed to creating an environment where students will work hard, feel cared for and valued, have fun, and learn to love school. Students are exposed to a variety of learning activities that include hands-on activities, a team approach, technology, and authentic experiences. There are times when learning is serious business and times when it is FUN! I am looking forward to spending the year with your child!
