LANGUAGE ARTS CURRICULUM

Our district mandated Houghton Mifflin reading program provides a balanced program of reading, grammar, vocabulary and writing centered on themes.  Reading, writing/grammar and word work are built into our program to ensure your child has a strong foundation for language arts.  Through this program, students will participate in Guided Reading, Self-Selected Reading, and Word Work.  A comprehensive Grammar/Writing program will be used during our Language Arts block as well.  Writing will also be a part of our Science and Social Studies curriculum.  The following are our story titles as well as the Comprehension strategy and skill that we will be focusing on with each story.
