In the resource room you will be required to do the following. * Complete work that is posted on the whiteboard in the room, students will be required to complete these assignments as they are vital to their IEP goals. The work given and taught are skills that they need extra practice on and will also reinforce what is being done in the general math classes. Work given is also vital to HSA assessed areas in math, English, biology, and algebra. *All work, is to be kept in their folder and should be turned in when they are finished. There is a basket in the room for this purpose. Class work and homework (if they have not finished work in class) is to be completed in a timely manner. Students have the week to work on assignments and one extra week but nothing will be accepted after this second week. Extra time is given when needed depending on the assignment given and the length of the assignment. Also if a student is absent they will be given extra time to complete work. *Quizzes will be given at various times. All will be announced ahead of time. Each will be graded accordingly 1 to 2 summative grades despending on the nature of the quiz. Your child may be tested on the same material more than once in order to attain the level of acuracy indicated on his/her IEP. * For the reasons above homework from his/her general education courses needs to be completed at home. Have them bring in and ask questions about material that they didn't understand. Your child should have attempted the work first and used the available resources such as notes, the book, etc. They should complete all the parts of the assignment that they can, and only leave the parts they don't understand blank. Encourage them to do as much as possible. Students should not be bringing in every assignment from the day before from all their classes. Also, whole assignments should not be brough in, they should have understood some parts of the work. *If homework is not assigned for a class they should look over notes, and even reread material in order to comprehend the material and remember the information. Remember last minute cramming does not bring about good results and rarely do students retain the information.
