The contest was held at Morrisville State College on May, 13 2010. The students exhibited exceptional ability in automotive diagnostics by finding and repairing faults on a 2010 Mercury Milian, using on-board diagnostic scan tools and factory service manuals to service and repair the vehicle. We congratulate them on their outstanding work. They also recieved prizes and scholarships totaling over $7500 for their efforts.

Automotive technology students receive equipment

Lowes, in partnership with SkillsUSA, donated $1,100 worth of tools to the automotive technology program at the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Center. Accepting the donation is (pictured left to right) Teacher David Shalke, and students Andrew Randolph, Trevor Overholt, Mike Smith, Samantha Clark and Shane Moore.

Motor Mania Car Show

On April 9, 2010 the Automotive Technology class will be taking a field trip to the Motor Mania car show at the Dome Center. This will be an all day field trip. Both AM and PM classes will arrive at school by 8:15 AM, we will be doing our normal Technical Literacy exercise then we will leave school at 9:00 AM and travel by bus to Monroe Community College. We are going to tour the Applied Technologies Center. From there we will travel to the Dome Center for the show. After the show we will be going out for lunch, then heading back to school by 1:30 PM. All students will then be released at our normal 2:40 PM dismissal time.

6-2-09 WE-MO-CO Career and Technical Education Center Automotive Program Received National Certification

The automotive training program at WE-MO-CO CTE has received certification by NATEF and The National institute of Automotive Service Excellence (ASE). WE-MO=CO's automotive program has been certified in the following areas:

    Brakes & Brake Systems
    Electrical & Electronic Systems
    Suspension & Steering
    Engine Performance

To achieve this coveted recognition, the school's automotive training program underwent rigorous evaluation by the National Automotive Technicians Education foundation (NATEF). Nationally accepted standards of excellence in areas such as instruction, facilities, and equipment were used.

May 1, 2009 - NATEF week went by without a hitch. We are eagerly awaiting our notice of NATEF certification. NATEF representatives visited our school to evaluate our Automotive Technician Training program. This is the culmination of a two year process.

The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) offers certification for technician training programs. The purpose of the automotive technician training certification program is to improve the quality of training offered at secondary and post-secondary schools.

Benefits of Certification

Certification of an automotive training program brings with it program credibility, prestige, recognition, and overall program improvement. The certification process benefits everyone: schools, students, future employers, and the automotive service industry. Specific benefits of program certification are noted below:
