Please try to gather as many of the items for your character as possible. Use the internet to research what people were wearing in 1930. If you do not have the items you need for your character’s costume, you do not need to go out and purchase anything yet. We will first try to use items form the Chippewa costume collection and then try to borrow the items before purchasing them. If you see something that another character needs that you may be able to lend them, let that actor or Ms. Winden know. Annie Scenes 1-3 · Ragged layers of clothing and oversize red sweater · Laced boots or shoes · Tattered socks Scenes 4-5 · Winter dress coat a fur coat and muff would be great. Prefer white or pastel color, not dark Scenes 6-11 · Trademark red short-sleeved dress with white collar (provided) · White socks · Black shoes with straps Final scene (Optional - to be determined later). · Fancy holiday red dress for final scene, maybe velvet with lace. Apple Seller · Street clothes – fall/colder weather. Layers would be best · Cap and gloves (fingers cut off) · Bag of apples for selling Bundles · Uniform of white pants and shirt. · Visored hat that says “Bundles laundry” Burt Healy This character should look as smooth as he sounds on the air. His clothing should be flamboyant. Maybe a striped jacket, bow tie and skimmer hat. Dog Catcher (Talk to Mr. Bundles about getting uniform from his father). · Matching shirt and pants, must look like a uniform with official emblem sewn to sleeve or pocket of shirt · Visored hat with words “Dog Catcher” across the front Drake · Tuxedo with tails (maybe rent or look for donation from a rental place) · White dress shirt with black bow-ti Grace Farrel Needs 2 or 3 costumes. Grace always dresses with thought and style. She should always look professional. Avoid black and very bright colors. Costume 1 · Lavendar Suit with skirt · White shoes, handbag, hat Costume 2 · Sweater with skirt Scene 7 · Stylized holiday sweater with a skirt Outer coat. Fur would be nice but not necessary. Lily St. Regis Lily should be outlandish. She is the stereotypical “floozy”. · Bright colored dress · Matching handbag · Pumps Scene 9 – needs coat and hat for her disguise. Lt. Ward (Police Officer) (Talk to Mr. Bundles about getting uniform from his father). · Real police uniform or navy shirt and pants. Maybe emblems on sleeve and badge on front. · Policemans hat · Nightstick Louis Howe Very professional · Dark suite · Tie · Dark glasses. Miss Hannigan Miss Hannigan should always look a bit out of synch with her surroundings. · Dress should be tawdry, perhaps a 1930’s floral print made of lingerie-like material. · Accessories she can manipulate such as beads, boa, scarf, hat with feather, bangles, a shawl, etc. Needs a lot of so she can change them with different scenes · Flesh colored hose (tights or nylons) · Black or flesh colored dance shoes (with a heel would be best). · Whistle on a rope for around her neck. Oliver Warbucks Always dressed formally, business-like. · Dark suit · White shirt · Tie and black cummerbund. · Hat – top hat if possible Scene 5 · Topcoat Scene 10 · Replace black tie and cummerbund with Christmas red for. Orphans Overall look is mismatched layers in blues and greys, very institutional. Clothing in poor condition but not tattered. · Dresses or skirts with shirts and sweaters, smocks, flannel nightgowns. · Hair accessories should be made of ripped pieces of fabric. · Laced shoes or boots, keds tennis shoes (not too white), black laced jazz shoes would also work. · Knee, ankle socks or tights, may want to put a few holes to make them look well used. President Roosevelt · Suit and tie · Small glasses Rooster Costume should be as colorful as his personality. · Dress pants · Light color dress shirt · Vest · Tie · Fedora hat · Suspenders or spats. Need different jacket for scene 9 when he is in disguise. Maybe also a pair of glasses. Hair – slicked back, maybe a mustache. Servants All servants should be dressed and groomed neatly with nothing out of place. They take a great deal of personal pride in their appearance as well as their work. Male Servants · Black dress slacks · White dress shirt · Black bow-tie and cummerbund (talk to someone in the orchestra to borrow one) · Black socks, black dress shoes, white gloves Female Servants · Black skirt, must be below knee to calf length. · Black short-sleeved top, nice t-shirt ok. Should have high neckline. Low cut not allowed. · Aprons and head pieces will be provided Sound Effects Man Somewhat flamboyant · Dress slacks · Suit coat · Bowtie and hat Star-to-be This character just arrived from out of town to take NYC by storm. · Cute stylish travel suite with capelet and gloves Street Scene Remember the scene is December in New York and its chilly. Look on the internet to see what they were wearing in the 1930’s. What to wear: · Layers · Longer winter coats with skirt or pants (very few women wore skirts) · Any color ok but not too bright or flashy · All types of hats · Boots, lace up shoes, pumps, flats. Usherette Radio city usher of the period with a pillbox hat, jacket with gold buttons and trim, black skirt or pants. Gold trim and epaulets can be added to a plain blazer.
