Oklahoma Costume Information Costume Director: Ms. Tamara Winden twinden@comcast.net GENERAL INFORMATION · Costumes are due to school Tuesday February 20. Tuesday February 20 will be a dress rehearsal. You will leave your costume at Chippewa. · If you have your costume before that date you can bring it in to show me or send a photo to my email but you will not be able to leave it at Chippewa. · All costume pieces must be labeled with your name (masking tape works great) · All clothing items must be on a hanger and preferably in a garment bag, if they will fit. Target has plastic garment bags two in a package for $4.99. They are in the laundry section. Do not bring a heavy garment bag, our costume racks cannot handle the excess weight. · All shoes, hats and other items that cannot be hung up should be in a paper bag or duffle with your name on the bag. · Costumes will be provided for the principal parts as listed below. · All chorus actors are responsible for obtaining their own costumes. · There is no need to spend a lot of money or rent a costume but we do want everyone to look their parts. · Remember school dress code applies to costumes. · Deodorant!!! COSTUME RULES: · No eating and drinking in costume! NO EXCEPTIONS! · No food or drink in the dressing rooms. · Please apply make-up at the make-up table not in the dressing rooms. · Please do not touch costumes or props that are not yours. · Costume pieces must be hung up after wearing and not stuffed into a bag. COSTUME STYLE · Oklahoma takes place in the 1800’s. Women wore long dresses, girls wore shorter dresses with tights and men wore jeans or work pants and western clothing. Our show takes place in the late spring summer so light colored clothing is preferred. Short or long sleeves are ok. · For chorus members, think about your characters age. Make sure your costume is appropriate for the character you are to portray. · Make sure your costume allows you to move appropriately so you can perform the choreography. Make sure any costume pieces such as hats will stay put when dancing. CHORUS WOMEN
