The programs listed are not an endorsement of the program-merely information for parents regarding summer programs for the gifted. I have first-hand knowledge of some of them. March 2009 Due to discontinuation of local programming, I am currently researching other alternatives, such as: SummerStage at NYSTI July 6-24, 2009 • Mon.-Fri., 9 AM - 4 PM, Ages 9-16 Application Form SummerStage, is carefully designed to provide a combination of structured performing arts training, creative expression, fun, social interaction with other students, and the opportunity to perform. Individual and collaborative work by the young people under the guidance of experienced teachers culminates in an original presentation created and performed by the students. Acting classes are same-age, special topics are partially mixed-age, and performance projects are mixed-age. The SummerStage experience provides a training ground and showcase for young performers’ creative talents. SummerStage will be held in the Schacht Fine Arts Center, Russell Sage College, Troy, NY. Tuition: $550.; Application deadline: May 1 For more information on SummerStage, contact Theatre Arts School Director Sara Melita at 518.274.3295 or tasdirector@nysti.org Summer @ Rensselaer http://summer.rpi.edu Contact the program mananger, Mike Gunther for recruitment at 276-8351 or gunthm@rpi.edu for information on elementary enrichment programs at the RPI campus. The program hosted at Skidmore College by Johns Hopkins-upper grades only this year. They discontinued Siena College site for 2009. http://cty.jhu.edu/summer/summer-programs.html The program is NOT hosted at Union College by the National Young Scholars Program in 2009 http://www.nationalyoungscholars.org/ The program hosted at Vassar College or Amherst College, MA by The Summer Institute for the Gifted http://www.giftedstudy.com/
