February news: The individual reading assessments are completed and the NWEA testing for math and english language arts (ela) are also done. The concentration will now be on readying the students for the NYS exams in 40 school days. What is the parent role? Keep your child reading! Length of time will increase from 30 to 40 minutes / night. The reading contest in January had astounding results. Our class read over 26,000 pages in January!! The top 5 finishers are: Brandon -4,280 pages Katie - 3, 360 pages Wendi- 3, 060 pages Ben- 2,640 pages Praaghya- 2,070 pages Kids were excited about reading and devoting themselves to the printed word. What a great accomplishment for them-thanks for your making reading material available to them and for helping to keep track of the pages read at home. Hurray for the kids!
