** Homework clarification**

The question was asked at Open House if parents should help with homework-an excellent question!  The answer was I would like parents to :

1) Help clarify directions

2) If still unclear, perhaps do 1 example problem, but leave the rest for your child to do.

HOWEVER (this is the new part), when the homework is corrected by me and comes home with errors, please feel free to go over the work with your child.  Sometimes I will write notes to you or your child on the homework.  Sometimes I will ask that the page be redone, because we have done a reteach at school.  If there is still a problem, send me an email to let me know!  Your vigilance is much appreciated

Please resist the temptation to go ahead in assignments.  I want to cover the material in class before attempts to do the work at home are made. If I only assign the front of a page, please don't go ahead and do the reverse until it is assigned.

Define the challenge vocabulary words on loose leaf paper, using the proper heading . Hand-in  by Friday. Use a dictionary or dictionary.com .

I am looking for the correct spelling of the word, part of speech (noun, verb, adjective, or adverb), and one definition (there may be many). To finish, use the word correctly in a sentence. BE CAREFUL!!  Some students are naming a part of speech, but using the word as a different part of speech. For example, the word is defined as a noun, but the sentence uses the word as a verb.

ex.

blue- (adjective) Having the color of the sky, as seen in daylight.

The color of my grandmother's eyes are blue.
