Language arts:

The third grade has been conducting ELA reinforcement of topics and skills since early October. My reading group has been focusing on self chosen non-fictional reading. Examples of a couple of the topics are attached below.  The kids are greatly enjoying learning about colonial bartering, Hillary Rodham Clinton, earthquakes, and the history of the potato chip, etc!   

We have also looked at prefixes, main idea, author's purpose, and using context clues to figure out unknown words.

For Halloween, the students read a spooky play as a reader's theater!  Everyone had a part-great fun to listen to the characters use their voices to portray their parts.  BOOOOOOOOOO!
