Looking Back

Welcome to Pre-K!  Please check this page weekly for new updated classroom information.

Looking Back: Week of April 30, 2012!

Circle Time: We said goodbye to April and welcomed the month of May. We all agreed that the "May flowers" have been here for awhile! We had to put the weather arrows on rainy and cold some this week! We did not enjoy doing that! Our pattern for this month's calendar is; AAAAAAAAA! ;)

Centers: Using yellow construction paper, coffee filters, black paint and marbles we made bees to hang in our classroom at the craft center. We had so much fun digging up insects in the dirt last week that we continued that again this week.We sorted colorful insects that we borrowed from the kindergarten classroom. Counted out ants to put in picnic baskets. Worked on letter recognition by matching upper and lowercase letters to form ladybugs. Played with insect duplo blocks. Put together a floor puzzle with lots of insects in it!

We are almost finished "writing and illustrating" our books. Just 2 more to go!

Bible: "Serve the Lord with all your heart" 1 Samuel 12:20. This week we read how Elijah served God with all his heart. He knew that God was the ONE TRUE GOD. So he challenged King Ahad and the 450 prophets of Baal to prove who really was the one and only God! He teased the prophets as they pleaded with their "god" to send fire to the alter; telling them to shout louder. Even saying that maybe he was "using the bathroom" (not the exact translation by the way!) God rewarded his service by sending a chariot of fire to take him to heaven at the end of his time on earth!

Letter : Every parent's favorite letter when it comes to show & share! Xx!! We did have a few; xbox, xerox, xylophone, xxxx(kisses) and x-rays. Colored our X paper.

Stories: Bees, Bugs, Ladybug At Orchard Avenue, The Very Lazy Ladybug, Mr. Bumble

We had 2 secret readers on Monday! Nathan's mom came in before snack time and read "Hot Rod Hamster".  Collin's dad came in after recess and read, "Hello Phillie Phanatic". He also brought butterfly gummies that we ate on Wednesday.

Next Week: Discovery Days on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Theme will be The Olympics (London)
