During the calendar year of 2009-2010, our students will engage in many Language Arts activities.  Students will learn how to write correctly in cursive handwriting; form paragraphs that have correct punctuation, grammar and content; do research to write a brief report; and finally, hone test-taking skills that will assist them as they complete the Standardized Tests given in the spring.

In Mathematics, students will need to master (by memory) multiplication and division facts from 0-10; solve challenging word problems; add and subtract fractions and decimals; identify and define 2D and 3D geometric shapes; expand numbers correctly; use logic and reasoning to solve problems; and ultimately, approach any math problem with confidence in their abilities to search for accurate answers.

ANNOUNCEMENT:

Because of the SEVERE budget cuts in education, I would like to please ask parents to help our students by donating any school supplies needed during the school year.  Thank you for your kind assistance.  A list of needs follows:

• #2 pencils or mechanical pencils
• For your own child:  a regular supply of colored pencils, markers or crayons
• tacky glue
• scotch tape refills
• hand soap & hand sanitizers
• paper towels
• fat and skinny paint brushes
• copy paper for computer printers
• boxes of juice, healthy treats, plates, forks and napkins for the Winter & End of the Year Party
• pencil erasers

FIELD TRIPS PLANNED

We plan to have at least 1 field trip during the year.

• Students must have parent permission slips signed and brought back to school ON TIME!  
• Also, students must indicate whether they will purchase lunches from school, or bring their own food from home.
