My goal for writing is for the children to see themselves as writers and to become independent through explicit instruction, teacher modeling, practice, and conferring. 

I will be utilizing the teacher resource: Units of Study For Primary Writing to help guide my mini-lessons throughout the year.  Our focus will be on writing "small moments", revising and editing, writing poetry, how-to's and non-fiction reports. 

You can help your child by reminding them of and offering ideas for different writing purposes.
