Reading: We will read "Elena..." and study vocab, comprehension, background, generalizations, main idea, read across texts, and fluency.We will not do vocab sentences this week. The test will be Tuesday May 29th. We will then read other stories from other books the rest of the next week. Please continue to read nightly to help vocab, comprehension, and fluency.
Vocabulary : None this week.
Cursive: Cursive practice.
Spelling/phonics: We will be taking the test for multisyllabic words Friday 18th. The next two weeks we will be studying words that are related to one another. All of the words are in cursive, so please practice writing these at home. I would suggest spelling them orally, and writing them out each night. Please try to do two or more enrichment words each week. We will do Orton-Gillingham exercises each week to learn the spelling rules, and patterns. The test will be Thursday 31st. (two week unit)
Language: Commas
Math: Write, and locate negative numbers on a number line, dividing two digit numbers by a one digit number, unit cost, maps, addition, subtraction times on a number line, measure distance, and adding positive, negative numbers. *** Review, and work on addition and subtraction facts 2-3 times a week. PLEASE WORK ON TIMES TABLES. (ALL) Most students have passed these, but all students must continue to work hard to get these more automatic, and faster. So please hit these hard. Do the math homework, and return it each day. Parents please check the homework. ( It is usually two papers.)
Writing: Respond to a prompt.
Social Studies: Scholastic news, flow charts, mineral resources, review of what we have learned this year.
