Science Project: Product Comparison   due 11-30

The student will compare 2 brands of a product to see which brand is a better buy.

Students must fill out the attached worksheet with the information comparing the brands.

Students must compare the brands in three ways.

The first comparison must be a test.  For example if you were comparing paper towels you could test the strength of the towels.

The second way to compare the brands must be the price.  Items must be compared fairly by using unit price.  For example, if Bounty paper towel was $2.19 per roll and Sparkle was $2.99 for a three roll pack, the price comparison should be for one roll. Thus, Bounty was $2.19 per roll and the Sparkle was about $1.00 per roll.

The third way to compare the items can be any logical reason for selecting the brand. For example, Bounty has  select- a -size, while Sparkle does not, or Sparkle has decorator colors and Bounty did not, or Bounty has 70 square feet per roll and Sparkle has 57.

After students have recorded the three ways they are comparing the brands they will list the advantages and disadvantages of each brand.

Finally referring to the advantages and disadvantages of each brand, students will recommend a brand to buy.
