Mr. Vaughn's Financial Math Class - Welcome!!
Thank you for the privilege and opportunity to teach your children this school year. It is an honor and a blessing to be able to give back to the ministry of Family Church and to utilize my God given skills to advance the Kingdom of Jesus Christ. As a CPA, I understand the principle of Fiduciary Care. With respect to your child, I will strive to be the very best steward and fiduciary this school year. The course I will be leading this year is Mathematics with Business Applications or “Financial Math”. This is the opportunity to prepare your child to make wise financial decisions in personal situations. The course will help your child realize that they are already making financial decisions and will show them how their decisions affect their future. This course also is designed to prepare your child for both college level business programs and to understand the complex financial world they will encounter during their lives. We will explore topics that include checking accounts, savings accounts, loans, charge accounts and credit cards, housing costs, insurance, budgeting and investments. We will use a variety of instructional methods including lectures, hands-on group projects, field trips to area businesses, development of personal financial plans and workshops. We will also focus on improving your child’s ability to make presentations and improve their communication skills. This is an opportunity to take the principles of math learned in prior years and begin to apply to real world situations. In fact, I have named my web page, “Welcome to the Real World”. It will be my goal to instill Biblical Principles of finance into your child. They will be taught that everything we have belongs to God. He has entrusted worldly possessions to us to advance his Kingdom. They will be taught the principles of tithing, stewardship and caring for the needy. They will be taught God’s principles of work ethic as set forth in the book of Proverbs. It will be my goal to ensure that they understand it begins in the morning with Jesus and ends with Jesus.
