Coaching Staff » Kristin Bennett Head Varsity Softball Born Kristin Deree Grimes on 9/24/1968 in Monroe Louisiana at St Francis Hospital to Danny & Bobbie Grimes. She was blessed with Godly parents who raised her in Cheniere Bapt church, she still had to find her own relationship with God. Her Jr. High years were spent carrying her Bible to school and sharing with her classmates. It was during her summer, before her Sophomore year, that she came to a Saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Married to Brett Bennett on March 3, 1990. Brett graduated from Calhoun in 1986 and soon after, started his career in the Military. He served in the Army, 8 years active duty and 12 years in the Natl. Guard. He has retired and graduated ULM with a B.S. in Radiological Technology and a Masters in Computer Education. They have 3 children, who make them very proud and keep them excessively busy. Jerrica Bennett (15 years) is All-State Shortstop for CCS and she is also a member of the West Ouachita Little League Team that won the World Series Senior division in Delaware. Beaux Bennett (14 years) is a talented artist and plays soccer, basketball, baseball and golf. Rayleigh Bennett (8 years) loves drama and enjoys singing, softball and soccer. Coach Bennett started playing softball at the age of 8. During her High School career she was All-District in Basketball & Softball every year. She was named Ms. Defense in Basketball & Ms. Offense in Softball. She took over catching duties from her sister, All-State Catcher-Dana Grimes (big shoes to fill). Her most memorable high school softball moment (and most embarrassing). During her Sophmore year, At LHSAA State tournament during a playoff game to get to the championship she was given the opportunity to pinch hit with bases loaded. She hit the ball to the fence, but in her excitement she failed to touch any of the bases. The umpire called her out at third. She did get 3 RBI's to help her team win. They later played for the championship and lost. She has also played in a World Series as starting Catcher for West Monroe Dixie Youth Belles, they tied for fourth. She Graduated from Calhoun High School(2-A) (now West Ouachita) class of 1986. Rhonda Cox & Liz Rigdon were the guilty parties involved in the original recruitment of the School Office worker. Her first year coaching she had a middle school team with about ten games and the second year was more of a junior varsity year with about tweleve games. Lady Crusaders first year as LHSAA members had them winning district and making it all the way to the round of state quarterfinals. The next year they repeated themselves. 2009 was the year to break the curse and win the state champioship. This will be Coach Bennett's 6th year as the Head Coach for the Lady Crusaders. Each year has it's own challenges and she is looking forward to this years.
