Fall Hands Around the World-Holidays
Project Dates: Fall 2009
Sponsor: Imagiverse
Hands around the World is an exchange of paper hands. Students cut out and decorate their hands.  This Fall’s theme is Animals Around the World.  Students will describe the animals of their communities. A paragraph (or series of paragraphs) from the class will be emailed to Imagiverse in advance of the exchange.  This paragraph will be posted with representative handprints. The purpose of this activity is a cultural exchange.

Children of the World
Project Dates: Fall 2009
Sponsor: Imagiverse
Students of all ages around the world create “paper dolls”  or “still action figures”.  These paper figures are cut out and decorated with pasted on clothing. Students may also paint or color their dolls if this works better for their ability level or to meet time constraints. Dolls will be sent to Imagiverse and we will distribute and mail to all the participants around the world. All ages can participate. Generally, classrooms submit one paper doll per participating student. You are welcome to send more. The more you send, the more you will receive in return.

Where the Wild Things Went

Project Dates: October 12 - October 30, 2009
Sponsor: Jenuinetech
Classrooms will read the story "Where The Wild Things Went" -- (there will also be a movie version released in Oct) Students/Teachers will use a project wiki to add pictures and extend the story line beyond the book. Students may choose ANY character in the story and imagine what happened next. Classes may participate in a simultaneous reading from the book via Skype.

Spring Hands Around the World-Famous Places
Project Dates: Spring 2010
Sponsor: Imagiverse
Famous Places Around the World Hands around the World is an exchange of paper hands.  Students cut out and decorate their hands. This Spring’s theme is Famous Places Around the World. Your students will show some of the “famous places” that people should visit if they come to your community.  If you live in a small community, you might not have something that is “famous” around the world but... this is your chance! You get to tell students, in other parts of the country and the world, about those special places in your community. They can also research the history of the community they live in. A paragraph (or series of paragraphs) from the class will be emailed to Imagiverse in advance of the exchange. This paragraph will be posted with representative handprints. The purpose of this activity is a cultural exchange.

Children of the World
Project Dates: Spring 2010
Sponsor: Imagiverse
One of our favorite exchanges is Children of the World.  Students of all ages around the world create “paper dolls”  or “still action figures”.  These paper figures are cut out and decorated with pasted on clothing.  Students may also paint or color their dolls if this works better for their ability level or to meet time constraints. Dolls should not be larger that 8x10 inch and should be relatively light weight.  Dolls will be sent to Imagiverse and we will distribute and mail to all the participants around the world. Teachers will email, to Imagiverse, a letter from the imaginary paper “student” who represents your class.
