Classroom Homework Policy
Mrs Buller

Please read the following carefully to answer any questions you may have regarding homework that will be assigned in our classrooom. Discuss it with your child and return the bottom portion with your signature.

Purpose:

To provide review, reinforcement, or enrichment
To develop writing, thinking, and study skills
To prepare for assessment of content and skills
To enhance student responsibility and independence

Student Responsibilities

Plan a daily homework time
Take home everything you need
Choose a quiet study place
Read and follow all directions
Do your work neatly and carefully
Ask for help if you need it, but do the work yourself
Keep your homework in a special place
Return your homework on time

Parent Responsibilities

Make homework a top priority in your home
Provide the necessary supplies
Provide a quiet environment
Set aside a certain time each day for homework
Provide praise and support, but step back and allow your child to do the work

Schedule/Timing

Homework will be assigned Monday through Thursday nights
Homework should take about 45 minutes to an hour to complete

Consequences

A strike system is used for incomplete assignments. All strikes are erased monthly. More than one strike in a subject area may result in loss of recess. Consistent failure to do homework may result in losing classroom privileges or in a one-hour after school detention from 2:30-3:30 pm on a prearranged date. It is my policy to be in communication with you before it reaches this point.

If there is a legitimate reason for an unfinished assignment, please send a signed note. Illness is definitely a legitimate reason, forgetting books at school is not. All missed work must be made up by the student.

Rewards

Positive verbal or written comments, classroom coupons, additional classroom privileges, award box selection, and Friday Free Time.
