What do we do?

Have you ever wondered what your child does in kindergarten? As you can see, we are jam packed every day and do not have time to add much to our schedule!!


Morning work- to reinforce a skill that we learned the day before

play- social interaction between the students when they are finished with their work. This is also the time that we pull students aside for testing, lesson reinforcements, or small group work.

Calendar- We review the days, months, and year, how to say the date, the weather, seasons, abc's, counting, making groups of 1's, 10's, and 100's.

Bathroom Break

Math- check the newsletter weekly to find out what we are doing in math!

Language Arts/literacy skills/word and letter of the week/concept of the week

Story- A teacher reads a story or we listen to a story on our wonderful new tape player!

Reading workbook- Our reading workbook reinforces our language arts skills or reviews a story that we have read.

Science- Understanding and questioning events and processes in our world, making observations about our surroundings, understanding what objects are made of and how these objects can be physically changed, understand how different objects can move, and identifying and classifying living and non living things!

Social Studies- Comparing the lives of children and families long ago and today, gain a knowledge of famous Americans, understand what the leaders of our city, state, and world do, describe qualities of a good citizen, understand directions (such as near and far, up or down) and be able to use them when discussing familiar places, knowing our addresses, understand that people live in different places, and explain why people work and give examples of jobs/careers.
