Report Cards Report Cards

Report cards will be mailed to your home on Friday, Feb. 3. Let me take just a few minutes to explain the progress codes you will find on the card. There are 5 progress codes and they can be a bit confusing if you are seeing them for the first time:

X-if an area is marked with an X, it simply means that, for this marking period, this particular area or skill was not evaluated. Some skills do not emerge or begin to develop until later in the school year.

I-very encouraging news! Your child is becoming more successful in this area!

N-serves as a reminder that this skill is emerging. Therefore, your child is in the process of learning or developing this skill. We can work together, both at school and at home, to insure your child's progress in this area.

[]- a blank box! Oh no! This can't be good! Actually, it means that your child is making satisfactory progress in this area.

+-great news! Your child has consistently been successful in this area throughout the marking period!

Rubrics can also be a bit confusing. They are not the same as letter grades. For example, a 4 does not mean an A, and a 3 does not mean a B.

4 means that your child consistently is working above grade level.

3 means that your child is consistently working at grade level.

2 means that your child is at times working at grade level, but it is not consistent.

1 means that your child is working below the expectations for this grade level.
