Welcome Fourth Graders!

This year in social studies you will be exploring the United States. Your exploration of the United States will include the geography, economics, and government system. Throughout the course you will take part in in-class activities, research, online discussions, and literature discussion.

 WHAT, NO TEXTBOOK??

You will not be using a textbook this year in social studies instead we will read a variety of trade books to help us in our discussions of the material. The trade book list is large.   One week prior to beginning a new unit, I will post the books we will be using for the unit.  The list will appear under the main heading. It is best you visit your local library to obtain the books we will be using.

 What do I hope to teach you?

By the end of this course, you will be able to answer the important questions asked in social studies, analyze the primary and secondary sources, and draw conclusions about characteristics of the United States.
