Learning Together

Collaborative teaching, when done correctly, is a dynamic process in which educators constantly reconfigure ideas and strategies to fit their instructional plans and the learning needs of their students.  In our collaborative classrooms, we utilize our unique building design by sharing both classrooms and the connecting space throughout each day.  The ratio of teachers to students is the same as in a regular classroom however, the students in our classrooms will benefit additionally in multiple ways.  They will have the opportunity to have two teachers working together on all aspects of the classrooms.  We will plan the curriculum, provide instruction and develop and administer assessments for the students in our class reflective upon our combined teaching atmosphere.  The students will benefit from seeing two professionals working together to problem solve and model critical thinking skills in ways that will serve as a platform for lessons and collaborative activities.  It is our goal to meet the needs of every learner within our classes.  By working in our collaborative setting, we are best able to provide differentiated instruction effectively and efficiently for all of our students.  This means we will recognize the academic differences and modify classroom instruction to help each child reach his/her academic potential.  We want all children to be successful learners.  We want them to have fun and participate in the learning process along the way.  Our children will work in various whole groups and small groups throughout the day.  They will work individually, at times, and in pairs.  Our groups may be shorter or longer-termed, depending on interest, need, learning style, problem solving, skill instruction and reinforcement.  In this approach to grouping for learning, we as teachers, will choose the grouping strategy that is most appropriate for the learning situation and facilitates learning for each individual child.  By our collaboration, we believe we provide the best learning environment for our children.  We strive to build confidence, pride and a love of learning through our classroom community.  We are excited for the opportunity to work together with your child and we welcome you to our collaborative classrooms.
