8:00 – 8:30 –Shared Reading (Phonics /Vocabulary/Comprehension)

8:30 – 9:30 – Guided Reading and Independent Literacy Stations

9:30 – 10:00 – D.E.A.R Time (Deer Point Enriching Angler Readers)

• With the collaboration of all first and second grade teachers, every student will receive differentiated reading instruction on his/her level. Students will be grouped across the grade levels not by age, but by ability and have the opportunity to learn without limits. What a wonderful thing!

10:00 – 10:15 – Teacher Directed PE

• This time will be used to direct students in a physical activity. Brain research states that physical activity boosts brain functions.

10:15 – 10:55 – Writing/Science/Social Studies

• Students will be working on improving their writing skills while integrating science and social studies.

10:55 – 11:40 – Special Area

11:40 – 12:00 – Teacher Read Aloud

• A wonderful part of our day where we get to celebrate literacy and learn to love books

12:06 – 12:36 – Lunch

• A quick break to refresh our brain and get ready for math

12:45 – 1:45 – Math

1:45 – 1:55 – Self Selected Reading

• A time for everyone, including me, to pick up a book they love and read away to wrap up the day.

1:55 –Pack Up/Clean Up
