SUNTRUST OFF TO COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP SWEEPSTAKES: High school seniors can win a $1,000 scholarship for first year expenses at an accredited college or private career school, plus a $100 gift card. NATIONAL ACHIEVEMENT SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM: The National Achievement Program is conducted by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), a non-profit organization that operates without government assistance. JANET HARDY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: This scholarship will assist a graduating high school senior with higher education tuition if they meet the following guidelines: GPA 3.25 or better, participated in a least one season of soccer during their high school years for either their school or a parks and recreation league, participation in Girl/Boy Scouts will be considered, accepted at a 2 or 4 year college, and be drug and alcohol free. THORN FOUNDATION: The Columbus W. Thorn, Jr. Foundation has been lending money to Cecil County students for over 20 years. The loans are interest free to full-time students in good standing. Upon graduation or discontinuance, the loans bear interest at 5%. The normal repayment period is 4 years.

ROBERT C. BYRD HONORS SCHOLARSHIP: This scholarship is designed to promote excellence and achievement. Nominees must be in the top 1% of their 2009 graduating class, resident of the state MD, be admitted full-time to an institution of higher learning in the fall of 2009, and be a U.S. citizen. NORTHEASTERN MD KENNEL CLUB SCHOLARSHIP: The Northeastern MD Kennel Club is offering a $3,000 scholarship and a $2,000 scholarship. These scholarships will be awarded to students who enroll in a field of study that involves animal sciences. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and submit a 500 word essay. THE FASHION GROUP INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP: For more than 20 years FGI of Washington has awarded scholarships to students pursuing a career in fashion or one of the any fashion related areas. To be eligible a student must be enrolled or have applied to and accredited institution with a focus in fashion or interior design. Applications must be postmarked by May 30, 2009
