Need to check on information that was sent out in a weekend update?? No worries - it's all listed below!
December 9, 2011
“You Can Afford College”
“You Can Afford College” (YCAC) is a live call in show that will air on Maryland Public Television. The YCAC program and an ad campaign is a part of this year’s Maryland College Access Challenge Grant program. I have attached a few photos of the billboard on the JFX and the link for information on the MPT website.
Here’s the link: http://www.mpt.org/ycac
The program will be aired on Maryland Public Television on December 14.
Comcast Internet Essentials Program
Attached is a flyer for the Comcast Internet Essentials Program. All families with students who qualify for free lunch at RSHS are eligible for affordable internet service from Comcast (as long as you live in the Comcast service area).
Contact 1-855-9-Internet (1-855-846-8376) or InternetEssentials.com for more information.
Cecil College “College Readiness Test”
All Juniors will be taking the Cecil College “College Readiness Test” on Friday December 16th. A letter describing the test and it’s purpose was sent home with interims on Tuesday December 6th. This test is designed to assess students’ skills and determine what needs they may have academically before entering college. Any student who would like to take a Cecil College course while in high school will need to have scored above the remedial range on this test to be allowed to take a credit bearing class.
All juniors taking the test will be called to the auditorium following morning announcements on Friday December 16th to begin testing. There is no fee for the test and scores will be returned to the school early in the 2nd semester.
Below are some important points to consider/remember:
1. Any student who normally received testing accommodations on school and state assessments will not receive accommodations for this test administration. Please contact me if you would like to opt out of taking the test at RSHS. If you would like to take the test with your accommodations, please contact the Cecil College Admissions Office at admissions@cecil.edu or 410-287-1000 to arrange a test date on site (at Cecil)
2. Calculators are permitted but will not be provided.
3. Students must return the Cecil College Consent to Release Form to the Guidance Office ASAP (this form was included in the information sent home and is attached). Without this form Cecil College will not be able to release your scores to RSHS.
4. Students who are currently attending the ETSE or Cosmetology Programs at the School of Tech do not need to report to testing on the 16th, if you would like to arrange to take the test, please contact the Cecil College Admissions Office at admissions@cecil.edu or 410-287-1000.
