Writing

During the month of December, we will be learning how to write a friendly letter.  This is a 2nd grade Indiana Academic Standard.  There will be a letter to write on one of the next ROAR tests.  We will start by learning the different parts of a letter and where they need to be written on the paper.  Our first letter we will write is a "Dear Santa" letter.  Our second letter will be a letter to the author of "Polar Express", Chris Van Allsburg.  I send the letters to the author, and he usually writes back to the class as a whole! 

After we have mastered letter writing, I have set our class up to have second grade pen pals from another school.  It will be a fun way for the students to keep practicing their writing skills.
